Places to see in Assos

You can find many different places to see and visit in Assos, which is established across the Gulf of Edremit and Lesbos and has a completely different beauty with its history and nature.

Assos Ancient City is one of the places you should definitely see when you come to Assos. Especially if you are someone who likes to be intertwined with history... The ancient city of Assos, whose excavations continue today, also includes the Acropolis, Temple of Athena, Necropolis, Agora and theater. Located a little higher than the sea and known as the most powerful city of its time, what remains of Assos is really worth seeing.

If you want to add a bit of authenticity to your vacation, you can go to the nearby Behramkale Village. Behramkale Village is an old village founded in Ottoman times. The village lies within the walls of the ancient city and is a small village with a very small population. The walls of the ancient city, the ancient stone bridge, sarcophagi and the historical mosque in the village are among the structures worth seeing. The tourism potential of the village has been increasing in recent years. Since it is under protection as a protected area, new buildings are forbidden. It is good to breathe in the historical scent of the region while watching the houses carved with stones in the narrow and old streets of the village. There are also accommodation facilities in Behramkale Village. Old houses have been restored and turned into hotels. You can also see locals, especially women, selling their own products as you walk through the streets of the village.

Perhaps a little further away from the center of the village you can see the last castle built by the Ottomans, the fountain where the Ottoman navy took water during their voyages, the Temple of Apollo Smintheion and the Kestanpol Hot Springs.

The town, which is protected as a protected area, has a truly unique beauty. There are old houses that are more than a hundred years old. It is not possible to build new buildings. As you walk through the narrow cobblestone streets, you are walking through the pages of history, while the architecture of the houses fascinates you. Most of the houses have been restored in accordance with the original. You can still see the ruins of the ancient harbor of Assos. We can say that it is one of the most impressive places in the region.

Another place you can visit while you are in Assos is Kadırga Bay. Kadırga Bay, with its fascinating view of Lesbos Island and crystal clear sea, is one of the places you should definitely see when you come to Assos. You will be greeted by a refreshing and wonderful imbat wind.

If you want to spend a wonderful day and get plenty of fresh air, you can go to Yeşilyurt Village, which is located at the foot of the legendary Ida Mountains. Located on the foothills of the Ida Mountains, the village is a truly enchanting place with its lush green nature and wonderful sea view. It is surrounded by olive and pine trees. New buildings are no longer built in the region, which is protected as a protected area. Restoration of old houses is allowed. Some of the restored houses have been opened as hotels. The houses in the village were built with stones quarried from the region. Therefore, you can easily find traces of history on the walls of the house you stay in. Do not forget to taste the flavors of the villagers' own products.

You can go to the place known as Sokakağzı in Assos. The town, which has a beautiful beach, is one of the towns that has managed to preserve its sincere and friendly atmosphere even today.

If your conditions are suitable, you can go to Lesbos Island, you can stroll and shop in the center of Edremit.
As for the beach: If you are looking for a flat foot or beach style place for the beach, Kadırga Bay is a good idea. You can also go to Aydede and Kozluyalı. Sokakağzı beach and Akliman beach both have no beach and are natural. They can be preferred.
