Located in northwestern Turkey, Kırklareli is a small and quiet city with a rich history and natural beauty. Kırklareli has many historical sites worth visiting, including the 4th-century Kırklareli Church (Kırk Şehitler Church), the Ottoman-era Kırklareli Castle and the 16th-century Ali Pasha Mosque. Kırklareli is surrounded by beautiful nature, including the Strandja Mountains and the Vize and Demirköy Dam Lakes. Visitors can enjoy hiking, cycling and exploring the forests and lakes in the area. Kırklareli has a rich culinary culture, including traditional dishes such as “kuymak”, a type of cornmeal porridge served with cheese and butter, and “beyaz peynir”, a type of white cheese. Local restaurants also serve delicious seafood such as fresh fish and mussels. There are several museums in Kırklareli that showcase the city's history and culture, such as the Kırklareli Archeology and Ethnography Museum, which displays artifacts from ancient civilizations, and the Kırklareli Atatürk Museum, which contains items belonging to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey. Kırklareli hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling Festival, one of the oldest and most popular traditional Turkish festivals, held in July each year.
