Places to see in Ayvalik

When you come to Ayvalık, you should first visit Ayvalık center and the bazaar. Maybe you can join a day boat tour to explore some quiet and untouched bays. You can take a walk in the narrow stony streets of Ayvalık and take plenty of photos. You can see the historical houses of Ayvalık. Most of Ayvalık houses are Greek houses and their old texture is still intact.   

If you are a little history buff, you can see Ayvalık Taksiyarhis Church. You can also visit other historical buildings such as Aya Athanasiu Church, Ayvalık Ayazma Church, Profit Iliyas Church, Agia Paraskevi Monastery.   

To witness a little more recent history, you can visit the mosques that date back to the Ottoman Empire. Saatli Mosque, Hacı Bayram Mosque, Ayvalık Hamidiye Mosque are among the most important of these historical monuments.   

When you come to Ayvalık, you can plan day trips to Cunda Island or Devil's Table. Cunda is one of the most popular places in the town; historical houses, fish restaurants, the famous Taş Kahve, Cunda Aşıklar Hill and Cennet Ada Bay are really worth seeing. You can relieve the tiredness of the day while sipping your coffee at Taş Kahve. We can tell you that you will love Taş Kahve.    

Devil's Table is a hill where, according to legends, the devil's footprint is located and the most beautiful sunset of the region is watched. When you come to Ayvalık, you should definitely see this place, which is only 2 kilometers from the center.

You should sunbathe on the clean and soft sands of Sarımsaklı Beach and swim in the deep blue sea of Sarımsaklı. The sea is quite shallow in Sarımsaklı, the water is clear and clean. Long sandy beach, clean sea and small cafes along the beach... 

If you want to cool off a bit, maybe you can plan a picnic in Ayvalık Kozak Plateau. Kozak Plateau is located towards Bergama. It has ice-cold running water and the air is clean. It is one of the most preferred picnic areas of the region.
