Bafa Lake Guide

We don't know if you are interested in philosophy, but Lake Bafa and its surroundings are known as the hometown of the famous philosopher Heraclitus and the place where the moon goddess Selene 'fell in love'. It is located in the direction of Izmir-Aydın and near Didim. Bafa Lake, which has a history of more than 8000 years, was actually a harbor in the past, and over time, the lands that were moved over time closed the harbor and it took on the shape of today's lake. Bafa Lake, where there are very important ruins of the ancient city of Heraklia, is a place that is also a prominent place as it contains islands, historical ruins, shelters where some wild animal species live, a suitable area for nature sports and a place where freshwater fish caught in the lake are eaten with pleasure. In other words, there is a perfect harmony of history, mythology and nature here. Since 1989, the lake and its surroundings have gained a new status as Bafa Lake Nature Park. If you happen to visit this wonderful natural wonder and relaxing lake one day, you can see the historical castles and ruins from Heraklia and Byzantium, trek around the lake, eat mullet and sea bass caught in the lake or brought from the surrounding area, camp, canoe and canoe around the lake. There are hundreds of climbing areas in and around Lake Bafa that pose no danger, and you can climb if you wish. A classic Aegean spot, Lake Bafa and its surroundings were once the center of the most intense trade in olives, figs and grapes.
