Spring Breeze on Kos Island: Beauties to Discover in Two Days
It was my first time in Kos and as soon as I stepped off the ferry, I had a strange feeling. It was as if I had belonged here for years... The sounds of laughter coming from the narrow streets, the peaceful rhythm of the sea hitting the dock and the smell of the sea... You know there are some places where you feel a warmth even when you take your first step, Kos is exactly like that. As I was wandering around the heart of the island, the words of an old Greek uncle in a small tavern ‘Whoever comes here will never want to leave again!’ rang in my ears. At that moment, I said, ‘Oh, uncle, you are right.’ Here are the things you should do during your two days in Kos Island, completely from my eyes and experiences, but in a way that you will feel like a part of the island.
Day 1: Historical and Colourful Streets of Kos
When you start walking through the narrow streets of Kos, you feel as if you are on a journey through time. The laughter echoing between the ancient stones, the light wind blowing in the shade of olive trees and the smell of history welcoming you at every corner... The first day is the perfect opportunity to discover the soul of the island. As you follow the traces of Hippocrates, you will rest in the shade of the castles and blend into the colourful texture of the streets. Are you ready to leave yourself in the arms of Kos full of history?
Morning Start the day with Kos's delicious breakfast
If you want to have an energetic start to the day, you should definitely have breakfast at Café Del Mare. There is nothing like waking up by the sea with the smell of coffee! Greek cheeses, warm breads, honey and yoghurt... Don't miss too much, because you will walk a lot during the day in Kos.Lunch: Historical Journey in the Ancient City
Kos is an island that fascinates not only with its beaches but also with its history. Our first stop is the ancient city of Asklepion, where Hippocrates taught medicine. When you take a deep breath in this temple and watch the view, it is impossible not to feel the spirit of the past. It takes about 1-2 hours to visit. Then you can return to the centre and explore the Agora and the Castle of the Knights. The castle tour is completed in 1 hour.
Note: Take comfortable shoes with you, the stony roads can be a bit tiring.
Evening: Lots of Laughter, Lots of Fun in a Greek Tavern
For dinner, I have a taverna recommendation where you can fully feel the spirit of Kos: Barbouni. You can spend a pleasant evening with Greek music accompanied by delicious seafood and ouzo. Well, if you say, ‘We have come this far, how can you return without sirtaki?’ Zorbas Tavern is for you! Get ready to dance on the chairs.

Day 2 Beaches and Peaceful Corners of Kos
On the second day, it's time to let the turquoise waters and serene corners of Kos embrace you. As you breathe in the cool scent of the sea at the first light of the morning, the beaches of the island offer you both peace and a little adventure. From the thermal waters to the white sandy beaches, you will feel that you are relaxing in the arms of nature away from the city rush. Are you ready to meet the calm face of Kos and touch your feet to the water?
Morning: Breakfast by the Sea
To start the second day a little more calmly, a breakfast overlooking the sea at Kastri Café is a good choice. This place is especially famous for its coffees. My favourite is the cinnamon frappe and when you try it, you'll see how refreshing it is.
The Rest of the Day: The 3 Most Beautiful Beaches of Kos,
The sea on Kos Island may be a little cool in spring, but don't return without putting your feet in those turquoise waters. Here are my 3 favourite beaches:
1. Therma Beach - You can both swim and enjoy a natural spa at this beach with hot springs.
2. Paradise Beach - A spot where you will find peace with its white sands and calm atmosphere.
3. Tigaki Beach - Famous for its long beach and ideal for windsurfing.

Lunch: A Delicious Greek Salad by the Sea
After enjoying the beach, a lunch break is a must! Avli Restaurant is a great option for seafood and the famous Greek salad. An ice-cold Mythos beer goes well with it.
Evening: Farewell Dinner in Kos
Before the way back, I recommend a place where you can watch the most beautiful sunset of Kos: Lofaki Restaurant. While having your dinner here, you will feel a bitter feeling while saying goodbye to Kos, but don't worry... Those who come once, will definitely come again!

How to get to Kos from Turkey?
The most comfortable access to Kos from Turkey is provided by ferries departing from Bodrum. The journey takes about 30-45 minutes and ferry fares vary between 25-35€ per person. If you want to cross by car, the prices are a little higher. It is useful to buy your ferry tickets in advance, because the demand can be quite intense in the spring months.
Visa Note: Since Kos is part of Greece, a Schengen visa is required. Visa application at the door is sometimes valid during the summer months; check before travelling.
Island Transport: Renting a bike (€5-10/day) or car (€30-50/day) are popular options. Buses also provide transport to beaches and tourist spots.
Must Experience Kos!
Kos is not only a holiday destination, but also an escape point to rest your soul. With its history, nature, delicious food and warm people, one cannot forget it again. I am looking for an excuse to go every chance I get, who knows, maybe one day we will meet on the streets of Kos!
