Uchisar Guide
Uçhisar is famous for its churches, monasteries, and numerous rock houses carved into and around the highest rock mass in the center of the town. It is one of the most popular destinations in the Cappadocia Region. When you climb to the top of the rock mass, known as the "Castle," you can see the entire valley stretching all the way to Avanos at your feet. The valleys, such as Akvadi, Pigeon Valley, Aktepe, Kızılçukur, and Üzengi Creek, can all be observed from a bird's-eye view. Inside the castle, numerous rooms are connected to each other by stairs, tunnels, and corridors. Some of the room entrances feature sliding stones, which were used as security gates, similar to those found in underground cities.
Today, due to the erosion and wear of time, many sections of this massive rock mass have crumbled, making some previously hidden and isolated carved spaces visible. This destruction has added an extra layer of beauty to the castle. Sunrise and sunset are best viewed from here. Uçhisar, with its geographical features, transports everyone who comes to the region to faraway lands. Walking through the streets of Uçhisar, you may feel like you are in another dream world. The enchanting beauty and mystical atmosphere of the region bring a sense of peace to anyone who visits.
