Erciyes Mountain, with an altitude of approximately 4000 meters, is located in the bustling and ancient city of Kayseri in the Central Anatolia Region. Being at a high altitude, it is a place where snow is constantly present. It is one of the rare places in the world with fine powdery snow. Erciyes Mountain is estimated to have formed around 30 million years ago due to movements of the earth. It is a dormant volcano that experienced a volcanic eruption last in 253 BC. This eruption, which is now in a passive state, but once active, actually made the surrounding lands fertile in many ways, leading to the geographical formations around it and the Göreme fairy chimneys.
