Only a few ancient ruins can be found around the coves or along the Fethiye road. However, due to the difficulty of accessing these ancient cities, no excavations have been carried out there, unlike Göcek. Still, remnants of these settlements have survived to the present day.

Until the 1980s, Göcek was a quiet and modest village. However, due to its growing tourism potential since then, it has become a popular holiday destination. Despite the increasing tourism, Göcek remains relatively calm and peaceful compared to many other holiday resorts. For this reason, it is a preferred retreat for those seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of big cities.

Göcek is also a popular harbor where local and international sea explorers wish to anchor their boats, thanks to its four large marinas: Skopea Marina, Port Göcek, Municipality Marina, and Club Marina.
