I have always been curious about the origin of the name of Bördübet, the paradise cove of Marmaris. I learned that during wartime, British soldiers were inspired by migratory birds resting in the cove, calling it “Bird’s Bed.” Over time, the local pronunciation evolved into Bördübet. The birds know they inspire this place, and they still come, especially the swallows! According to mythology, a kind fairy sent the swallows to ensure everyone finds peace here.
