How to get to Chios
Chios is an island located in the Aegean Sea, off the coast of Turkey, and it can be accessed by air or sea.
By air: Chios Island National Airport (JKH) is located near the town of Chios, and it is served by several airlines from Athens and Thessaloniki. The flight duration from Athens is approximately 50 minutes, while from Thessaloniki it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. There are also seasonal flights to Chios from other Greek islands.
By sea: Chios is also accessible by ferry from several ports in Greece and Turkey. There are frequent ferry connections from the port of Piraeus in Athens, with a travel time of approximately 8-9 hours. There are also ferry connections from other Greek islands such as Mytilene, Samos, and Lesvos. From Turkey, there are ferry connections from Cesme, Izmir, and Ayvalik.
Once you arrive in Chios, there are several transportation options to get around the island, including rental cars, scooters, and buses. It's also possible to explore the island on foot or by bicycle. Keep in mind that during the peak tourist season, it's recommended to book your transportation and accommodations in advance, as they may sell out quickly.
