Kemer Guide

Kemer, a tourism town of Antalya, is located about 40 kilometers from the city center. With its facilities, beaches, and holiday villages, Kemer is one of the most organized and modern tourist destinations in southern Turkey.

The history of settlement in Kemer dates back to 2000 BC. Having hosted many civilizations from past to present, Kemer still bears some historical artifacts today. You can see remnants from both pre-Turkish states and the Turkish period.

In the early 1910s, the area where Kemer now stands was known as Eski Köy (Old Village), a place filled with lakes and swamps due to floods coming from the mountains. To protect themselves from these floods, the villagers built a 23-kilometer-long stone wall at the foot of the mountains. Eventually, the village was named "Kemer" (meaning "arch" or "belt" in Turkish) because of this wall.

Until the 1960s, there was no road access to Kemer, and it could only be reached by sea. However, after the implementation of the South Antalya Tourism Project in the 1980s, the construction of roads and infrastructure rapidly transformed Kemer. Today, it has become one of Turkey's most popular tourism destinations.

Situated on the western slopes of the Taurus Mountains, 40 kilometers from Antalya city center, and stretching along a 52-kilometer coastline, Kemer is a must-visit holiday destination with its deep blue sea, lush pine forests, rich history, and culture. The integration of the sea and forest is so remarkable that some beaches in Kemer use the shade of pine trees as natural umbrellas.

The most striking feature of Kemer for tourists is the meeting point of mountains, sea, and pine forests. Additionally, Kemer's long beaches are entirely natural. Along its indented coastline, there are many hidden coves and small harbors that are yet to be discovered.

Since becoming a growing tourism destination, Kemer hosts a large number of local and international tourists every year. In fact, during the summer months, the district's population nearly triples.

To accommodate all its visitors, Kemer offers a variety of lodging options. The hotels in the town center are mostly large resort hotels, while boutique hotels and guesthouses are fewer in number. You can find boutique hotels on higher plateaus, set back from the sea. However, the number of boutique hotels is quite limited compared to other holiday resorts.

Regardless of where you stay in Kemer, you'll be close to the center, markets, and restaurants. While some Kemer hotels open their doors only during the tourist season, others operate year-round. Boutique hotels generally provide bed and breakfast services, while large resorts offer half-board or all-inclusive packages.

Although most boutique hotels in Kemer are near the sea, almost all of them also have their own swimming pools, making them a great option for families with children. If you plan to stay at one of Kemer's hotels, it's advisable to book early, as they become very busy during the summer season. Early reservations may also help you catch some pleasant surprises.

Kemer hotel prices are quite varied. Although they may fluctuate during the peak summer season, generally, there are options suitable for every budget.

Beycik

Beycik, a charming holiday village connected to Kemer in Antalya, is a place of stunning sea, forest, and mountain views located on the Olympos-Bey Mountains, known as the "Switzerland of Turkey." It is about 1,000 meters above sea level.

Beycik is a quiet and undiscovered mountain village. It is situated within the Olympos National Park and along the historic Lycian Way. Approximately 70 kilometers southwest of Antalya's center, it takes about 20 minutes to reach the sea by car. Thanks to its low humidity, Beycik has cool and refreshing air even in the hot summer months.

This village, with its natural beauty, attracts both local and international visitors. The combination of mountains, sea, and forest creates a perfect setting. Beycik is also ideal for mountain and sea sports. Walking in the mornings and evenings can help you relieve stress and refresh your body and mind after a long year in the hustle and bustle of the city.

The number of accommodation options in Beycik is quite limited, mostly offering mountain lodge-style stays. They typically open in April when the summer season begins and operate until November. Hotel prices in Beycik are generally affordable, providing suitable options for various budgets.

If you're planning to visit Kemer this summer, it's time to start packing your bags! For information about Kemer hotels, room rates, affordable options, and booking opportunities, feel free to check our website. Have a wonderful holiday.
