Historical Mahmudia Hotel which is located in Ilıca is renovated & enlarged, and nowadays serving as MARGE HOTEL. Main Building had been accomplished by the landowner Hasan whom also found the hot springs in Ilıca & offered to the public in 1876. Upon his death in 1905 this building was inherited by his grandson Mahmut Hamdi Baykal (Mahmudia Agha). Mahmudia Agha was also the 3rd generation grandchild of Memij Haji Agha who established Alaçatı.
In 1910, Fatma used this building as her residence, upon giving birth of her four children this building was named as ‘Big House’.In 1930’s there were only four hotels in Ilıca. Mahmudia Hotel, Rasim Palace Hotel, Karabina Hotel which is next to Rasim Palace Hotel and New İstanbul Hotel. The stone pier which was just in front of the hotels was the center of İzmir’s privileged families. Ilıca hotel district was the most preferred area by the native and foreign wealthy and also the elite Levantine & Jewish families.
Our main building which consists of 13 Suite room, 3 Dublex Suite, 4 Vintage Suite, 1 Executive Dublex Suite and 4 adet Standart room were renovated by Umart. Architectural work was completed by ARX Design Group, interior design was completed by Alexandra La Capria.
MARGE Hotel which is also hosting this historical building has 25 rooms, SPA center ( 1 indoor pool with jacuzzi and 2 massage rooms ), outdoor pool and a restaurant.
