Sogut Guide

Söğüt, one of the peaceful villages of Marmaris, is almost a hidden paradise. I will definitely remember the time I spent in this village where the sea and nature are intertwined.

1. Watching the Sunset: Sogut has an incredible sunset view. One evening, as I sat on the village beach and watched the sunset, I really lost track of time. The orange and pink colors falling over the sea create an enchanting atmosphere. You should definitely watch the sunset here, especially in the evening.

2. Exploring Serçe Harbor: Serçe Harbor, which is close to Söğüt, is really a wonderful place waiting to be explored. While walking in the harbor, I admired the clarity of the sea. The calmness and beauty of the harbor is ideal for those who want to relax. It is also possible to swim here and take boat tours.

3. Taşlıca Village and Ancient City of Amos: During my trip to Taşlıca Village, about 15 km from Söğüt, I enjoyed seeing the traditional stone houses. Then I visited the ancient city of Amos, a perfect spot for history buffs. Walking among the ancient theater and ruins allowed me to take a short trip to the past.

4. Ancient City of Loryma: Located west of Söğüt, the ancient city of Loryma is a very impressive place. As I wandered among the archaeological ruins in a tranquil setting, I better understood the strategic importance of this ancient settlement. A perfect discovery point for history lovers.

5. Trekking at Turgut Waterfall: I went to Turgut Village, which is very close to Söğüt, and visited Turgut Waterfall. The nature walk around the waterfall was really enjoyable. I dived into the cool waters and I can't tell you how peaceful I felt in the face of this natural beauty. If you want to be in touch with nature, you should visit this waterfall.

6. Octopus Tasting at Söğüt Beach: The restaurants in Sogut are famous for their fresh seafood. I wanted to try octopus at a few restaurants on the beach and it was really delicious. I enjoyed the freshly baked octopus with a few appetizers and enjoyed both the sea and the region. If you love seafood, you should not miss the restaurants here.

7. Nature Walks and Photography: The surroundings of Söğüt are ideal for hiking and photography. As I walked along the paths full of green nature and sea views, I encountered a different beauty at every step. The nature in Söğüt can be a great source of inspiration for photography enthusiasts.

8. Shopping in Sogut Bazaar: Söğüt Bazaar, which is held every Monday, is the perfect place to experience the local life of the village. Local products and handmade souvenirs are sold here. From olive oil to jams, stopping by the market and buying many products will allow you to get to know the culture of the region more closely.

9. Phonix Ancient City and Bozukkale: I visited the ancient city of Phonix near Söğüt and it was really impressive. This ancient city is one of the Aegean regions that smells of history. Bozukkale, which can be reached by sea, is another must-see point here. Especially by boat is a great way to experience the unique atmosphere of this region.

10. Accommodation and Recreation: The accommodation options in Söğüt are ideal for those looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation. I stayed in boutique hotels along the coast and I can say that these hotels are both cozy and intertwined with nature. Also, staying in rooms with sea view made my vacation even more special.

Transportation and Accommodation in Sogut: It is possible to reach Söğüt from Marmaris with a journey of approximately 1.5 hours. You can go to Bozburun on the Datça road with your private car and reach Söğüt by passing through Hisarönü, Orhaniye, Selimiye villages. Alternatively, transportation can be provided by shuttles departing from Marmaris.

Accommodation in Söğüt generally consists of boutique hotels and pensions. You can stay in the hotels along the coast and enjoy the sea and nature to the fullest.

 My Willow Recommendations:

  • Stop by Serce Harbor; it's impressive with its calm atmosphere and crystal clear sea.
  • Don't forget to eat octopus; the fresh seafood is really delicious here.
  • Stop by Söğüt Bazaar on Sunday and discover local products and souvenirs.
