Bolu Mengen Guide

Known as the hometown of cooks who can make the most delicious dishes of our country and even the world, Mengen is a district of Bolu, about 55 kilometers from the center.   

It is said that the fame of Mengen cooks started to spread even in the years when Istanbul was conquered. It is said that after Mehmet the Conqueror conquered Istanbul, he had the kitchen of his palace set up by Yakup Aga from Mengen. Yakup Aga worked in the palace kitchen with his own relatives. From then on, the fame of Mengenli cooks gradually spread all over the country and even the world. It is known that Atatürk's cooks were also from Mengenli.   

Located in the Western Black Sea, this delicious district in the Western Black Sea impresses with its lush nature, friendly people and history as well as its food. The history of Mengen as a settlement dates back to ancient times. It has been home to many different civilizations since the Hittites.

Bolu Mengen's climate is similar to both the Black Sea climate and the Central Anatolian climate. We can say that it has transition climate features. The main source of income of the people of Mengen is forestry and forest products.
