We continue our trip on the Aegean coast. Before entering Selçuk, we leave behind the old castle located on the hill and drive towards Şirince, the town we read about in the books of Sabahattin Ali and Dido Sotiriyu. A parenthesis: (Our traveling companion in these beautiful lands is S. Bakewell. An extremely successful novel on the philosophy of existence!)
Winter has passed through Şirince in all its glory, it is spring outside! It's hard not to be enchanted by the beauty of the olive groves and peach trees that never leave us alone along the way! With the sound of music in the background, we dream of the wines to be drunk and the artisans to be recognized... And Şirince, which rests on a green hillside... In order to enjoy every moment to the fullest in this village, we are the guests of Müjde at Nişanyan Houses. She welcomes us in front of the marble pool with elderberry sorbet. Nişanyan Houses, where we can enjoy the nature of the village, spread over 30 acres of land among vineyards and olive trees, has an environment filtered from "everything" that makes one feel the shabby spirit and naturalness. "Local" is the key word here! We settle in our room named "Köşk 5" and go to the terrace, but no one can object to Müjde's blackberry gin and tonic before dinner! The view is unbelievable... Their elegant dinner menu includes olive oil appetizers for vegans/vegetarians, risotto, falafel and topik served hot. After dinner, we say goodbye to Müjde and go to our room. Nişanyan Houses is a warm place where artworks and specially selected books are on the walls; where guests, neighbors and villagers meet; where the old and the new, the tradition and the future live together... In the shampoo/shower gel brands they offer to their guests in the rooms, they use the argan oil products of Verde Organic, an ecological brand compatible with nature. It is possible to consume otherwise;)
The next morning after breakfast, we leave the hotel and walk around the village center on narrow, winding roads. Stone roads, village houses spread layer by layer without blending into each other, the 19th century Church of St. John the Baptist, redbuds, too many shops and eating/drinking places to name... We can't help but recall the lines of Seferis: "I don't know much about houses/I know that they live in their own way.
As we leave the door of Nişanyan Houses, we continue on our way with the peace of being sent off with Müjde's beautiful expressions of compassion. After all, our path is our goal:)
