Places to see in Burgazada
The moment you first set foot on Burgazada, it is as if the city is left behind. The crowds and the honking horns are suddenly replaced by the cries of seagulls and the peaceful smell of the sea. Even walking through the palm trees and bougainvillea on your way to the beach makes you say “I'm glad I came”.
Aya Yani Greek Orthodox Church is very close to the center of the island. It is modest but so beautiful inside... The lights filtering through the colored windows almost take you on a journey through time in the dim atmosphere. When I went inside, I just wanted to sit and experience that peace without talking for a while.
The Sait Faik Abasıyanık Museum is a sacred stop for literature lovers. The museum is the house where the master writer spent his years. When I walked in, I felt as if Sait Faik was in the room. His desk, his typewriter, his books... everything is in its place and still carries the atmosphere of that period.
Kalpazankaya Road is one of the breathing spots of Burgazada. The smell of pine accompanies you along this walking path that winds through the forest. Kalpazankaya, which you reach at the end, rewards you with its view. Watching the sunset here is something to be experienced.
Hristos Monastery is a quiet area a little further inland, reached by an uphill walk. The surrounding area is almost completely silent. The surrounding forest and sea views offer a deep breathing space.
