Polonezkoy Guide
Polonezköy is one of the rare places around Istanbul where nature has managed to preserve its greenery and receive the necessary respect from people. Coming to the village from the Beykoz direction, you are immediately greeted by the church and the Catholic cemetery at the entrance. After a hundred meters or so, when you come to the small square of the village, you will see horses waiting to be rented. The houses of the village are surrounded by stunted walls and there are dense and tall trees that strengthen these fences. The entrances of the houses are surrounded by flowers of the sarmassic type, the so-called seven-variegated roses. You can also find glassware produced and sold by locals in the village square. This Polish village on the Beykoz ridges combines traditional and modern life. When you go to the village where about 500 Poles live today, be sure to listen to the story of the village that has been told for two centuries. Thus, you can learn why the land you walk on in Polonezköy is called “Enchanted Land” by the gypsies.
Polonezköy is known for its clean air, natural beauties, butter, honey and cherries. In fact, the cherries are so famous that a cherry festival is organized every June. However, in the past, it was necessary to take some difficulties to take advantage of these beauties. Because Polonezköy did not have enough accommodation facilities for people who wanted to share this natural beauty. However, this situation has changed in recent years. Now people can come to Polonezköy for a day or a few days and have the opportunity to relax alone with nature.
