Things to do in Adana
Stone Bridge Stone Bridge is one of the most well-known symbols of Adana, and as you cross the Seyhan River, you both witness history and walk with a wonderful view. Built in 384, this bridge dates back to the Roman period and every corner of it smells of history. When it is illuminated at night, the bridge takes on a completely different beauty and looks like a fairy tale in photographs. The walking path by the river is both peaceful and a great spot to explore the city from a different perspective.
Sabanci Central Mosque: I was once mesmerized as I walked towards it. This mosque near the center of the city is truly magnificent. Opened in 1998, it is one of the largest mosques in Turkey with a capacity of 28,500 people. The architecture is so impressive that when you step inside the mosque you are immediately drawn in. The huge minaret and the rich decorations in the interior make you lose track of time.
Varda Bridge Located just outside Adana, in the Karaisalı district, going to this railroad bridge is like stepping into another world. At 99 meters high, it looks like a bird's eye view from the edge of a cliff. The nature around it is so beautiful that you feel like you are in a movie scene while taking photos here. Whether by climbing the bridge or walking around it, exploring this historical structure is an incredible experience.
Kapıkaya Canyon: A paradise for nature lovers, this canyon, formed over thousands of years by Çakıt Creek, a tributary of the Seyhan River, offers a wonderful hiking route. Surrounded by cliffs, you can go rock climbing or just enjoy the tranquility of nature. The silence and the magic of nature here is the perfect place to get away from the noise of the city and rest your soul.
Anavarza Ancient City: Anavarza Ancient City, where the ruins of the Roman and Byzantine periods are found, is one of the places that reflect the historical texture of Adana in the most beautiful way. When you climb to the top of Anavarza Castle, you are mesmerized by the view around you. This ancient city, which smells of history and is intertwined with nature, harbors many secrets to discover.
Adana Archeology Museum and Kazancılar Bazaar: For those who want to explore Adana's history in more depth, the Archaeology Museum is a great address. Here, many artifacts from ancient civilizations in the region are on display. Kazancılar Bazaar, located right next to the museum, is the perfect place to experience the traditional shopping experience of the city. While walking through the narrow streets of the bazaar, you can browse the handcrafted products and buy nostalgic souvenirs for yourself or your loved ones.
