Things to do in Beylerbeyi
When I first set foot in Beylerbeyi, I realized how wonderful it is to escape the chaos of Istanbul. The tranquility of the neighborhood and the soothing view of the Bosphorus made me feel like I was in another world. The first place I visited was the Beylerbeyi Palace. The exterior of the palace is impressive, but once inside, the elegant details and historical atmosphere transport you to a completely different time. Seeing the refined architecture of the Ottoman era with my own eyes was truly mesmerizing. Then, I started walking toward the shore. As I walked along the Beylerbeyi shoreline, the waters of the Bosphorus and the cool breeze almost intoxicated me. While walking here, you not only feel the sea but also the traces of the past. The old Istanbul houses and wooden buildings I encountered along the way made me think that each of them has its own story to tell. I continued my walk, keeping in mind the idea of stopping for a tea at one of the various cafes. After a while, I sat down at one of the tea gardens by the shore. As I sipped my tea, the view of the Bosphorus gave me such a sense of peace that I lost track of time. I chatted with a few people while enjoying my tea, and I was enchanted by the calmness of the neighborhood and the warmth of its people. After walking for a while, I decided to do some shopping. I stopped by the Çengelköy Bazaar, which is quite close. It was delightful to get lost among organic food products and handmade souvenirs. I picked up a few sweets and traditional Turkish souvenirs, of course, some Turkish delight. There's something special about buying authentic souvenirs that reflect the essence of a place.Next, I visited the Beylerbeyi Mosque. Its architecture was truly stunning, and the tranquility inside was so overwhelming that I just sat in silence, seeking some inner calm. Later, I headed to Beylerbeyi Park. Anyone looking to escape the city will find spending time here extremely enjoyable. Walking among the greenery in the park, I felt as though I could forget the noise of Istanbul. For lunch, I planned to have seafood at a restaurant in Beylerbeyi. I chose Doğa Balık Restaurant, where I got a table overlooking the Bosphorus. The fresh fish, mezes, and a glass of wine were absolutely delicious. In that moment, sitting across from the Bosphorus, I thought about how simple yet beautiful life could be. I slowly finished my meal and took another sip of tea.I couldn’t get enough of the tranquility and sea breeze that Beylerbeyi offered. And, of course, as always, I couldn’t resist taking some photos. This neighborhood, blending the traces of the past with today’s modern atmosphere, is a wonderful sanctuary for anyone looking to escape the noise of the city.My day in Beylerbeyi, with its historical and natural beauties, truly impressed me. Everything in this neighborhood flows at a slower pace, offering a peaceful experience that nourishes the soul.
