Places to eat in Diyarbakir

Breakfast at Hasan Pasha Inn: If you want to start the day in a historical atmosphere in Diyarbakır, the address is obvious: Hasan Pasha Inn. Sitting in the courtyard of this 16th century inn and having a mixed breakfast is a completely different feeling. Warm pitas, a variety of cheeses, homemade jams and the must-have roasted eggs... Having breakfast here is not just about filling your belly, it's like a ceremony.

Mustafa's Breakfast World: Another great breakfast place located in Hasan Pasha Inn. One of the most famous flavors here is pomegranate clotted cream and kiwi jam. I really can't forget these flavors that I tried for the first time. The breakfast is so rich that I guarantee you won't be hungry all day long.

Han Gate Breakfast and Food Palace: If you want to discover the local breakfast of Diyarbakır in all its details, Han Kapısı is the right address. Their crispy pastries and scrambled eggs with butter are legendary.

İçkale Breakfast & Cafe: If you want to feel the historical texture of Diyarbakır, you should have breakfast in this place located in İçkale. The atmosphere is so peaceful that you don't want to get up even when you're done with breakfast.

Famous liver shops: It would be a great loss to come to Diyarbakır and not eat liver. Even in the early hours of the morning, there is a line in front of the liver kebab shops. Tek Kapı Liver Shop is perhaps the best in the city. The skewers of liver skewers cooked by the master emit fragrant smells as they cook in the embers. It is served with roasted peppers, sumac onions and fresh lavash. Don't say that you can't have liver in the morning, once you try it, you won't be able to give it up.

Nasır Usta Adana Kebab Restaurant: Yes, this is Diyarbakır, but the Adana kebab is just as good here. Nasır Usta's kebab is so delicious that one serving is not enough. The spices, the consistency and the variety of appetizers that come with it make it a really good place.

Sultan Ocakbaşı: This is the place to go not only for kebab, but also for Diyarbakır's famous stuffed ribs and lamb tandoori. It's such a flavor that you can feel the meat falling apart in your mouth like a marshmallow. The appetizers that come with it are another story.

Fırın-ci: One of Diyarbakır's historic baths was converted into a restaurant and the result is Fırın-ci. The meat dishes and lahmacun cooked in the stone oven here are truly legendary! When I say lahmacun, I should say that Diyarbakır-style lahmacun is a bit bigger and has a lot of minced meat. When you squeeze parsley and lemon on it, the taste goes to another level.

A good cup of coffee with your meal is a must. Sülüklü Han, one of the best coffee stops in Diyarbakır, is a 17th century building. With its stone walls, courtyard and small wooden tables, it takes you back a few centuries. The mırra (bitter coffee) drunk here takes away your tiredness and relaxes you.
