The food culture in Turkey is rich and varied. Here I can only list some popular dishes and flavors:
Kebabs: Kebabs are very popular in Turkey and there are different types of them. The most popular kebabs include Adana kebab, Urfa kebab, doner kebab, shish kebab and Iskender kebab.
Mezes: Turkish cuisine also has a wide variety of appetizers. There are many types such as haydari, hummus, shakshuka, eggplant salad, chili pate, and cigarette pastry.
Soups Soups are very popular in Turkey, especially during the winter months. There are varieties such as lentil soup, tarhana soup, tomato soup, highland soup, tripe soup, cutting soup.
Seafood Seafood is very popular in Turkey's coastal cities. There are many varieties such as stuffed mussels, fried calamari, fish soup and grilled fish.
Lahmacun: One of the most popular fast foods of Turkish cuisine. Lahmacun is baked in the oven by spreading a minced meat and spicy mixture on thin dough and is usually served with lemon and parsley.
Baklava: One of the most famous Turkish desserts. Pistachios or walnuts are laid between thin phyllo pastry and served soaked in syrup.
Manti: It is a very popular dish in Turkish cuisine. Manti, a pastry, is cooked with ingredients such as minced meat, onions, spices and is usually served with garlic yogurt, butter and red pepper flakes.
