
Places to see in Northern Cyprus
There are many places to visit and see in Cyprus, which is home to many different civilizations and where the first traces belong to the Neolithic Age. When you come to Cyprus, you should first visit Kyrenia Castle. The castle was built in the 7th century to protect against Arab raids. You should definitely visit the Blue Mansion on Kyrenia Road, which has an interesting story. The owner of the mansion is the famous arms smuggler and lawyer Pablo Pavilides. Pavilides had this mansion built out of fear of death. Built in a valley, the mansion cannot be seen from any point in the valley, but from inside the mansion you can see all around the valley. The more you visit the mansion, the more you realize Pavilides' fear of death in everything you come across. So much so that even the confessional room is a structure covered with mirrors.
You can see the Kyrenia Shipwreck. The remains of the ship, which is said to have sunk in the 3rd century BC, still exist. You can see Kyrenia Harbor, which took this form during the Venetian period. Today the harbor is used for tourism purposes. You can visit the two-story historical building in the harbor, the Folk Arts Museum.
You can visit historical buildings such as Aga Cafer Pasha Mosque, Antiphonitis Church, St. Hilarion Church, Bellapais Monastery in Kyrenia.You can visit the Büyük Han in Nicosia, which was built in 1572 and reflects the traces of Ottoman architecture. You can visit Selimiye Mosque, formerly known as St. Sophia Cathedral and converted into a mosque during the Ottoman period.
You can visit Bayraktar Mosque, Sarayönü Mosque, Mevlevi Tekke, St. Nicholas Church and the Venetian Column. You can see the walls of Nicosia.
You can visit Derviş Baba Mansion and Ethnography Museum, which belongs to Derviş Baba, who published the first Turkish newspaper in Nicosia. You can see the Museum of Barbarism.
In Gazimağosa, you can visit the Venetian Palace, Namık Kemal Dungeon and Museum, Salamis Ancient City, St. Barnabas Monastery.
