Places to see in Ovabuku
Ovabükü Beach: When I think of a beach, I always think of crowded places with sun loungers stacked on top of each other, but in Ovabükü, everything was in a different simplicity. The sand is fine, the sea is clean and clear. As I was walking early in the morning, the cool breeze from the sea was hitting my face. Watching the beach wake up with the orange color of the sky at sunrise... I can't describe it.
Hayıtbükü Bay: I walked to Hayıtbükü, which is right next to the beach. It is as quiet as Ovabükü but a little more family friendly. Children's voices, little ones playing in the sea, people reading books on the beach... Everything was so naive. I sat on the wooden terrace of a small café and drank an ice-cold lemonade. Time seemed to pass slowly.
Old Datça: I spent a day in Old Datça. As you walk through the stone streets, you see art around every corner. Can Yücel's poems were written on the wall of a house. On another street, handicraft products knitted by women... Time seems to have stopped here in the past, but one feels alive in this stillness. While drinking my coffee in a small café, an old uncle I met told me the history of Old Datça, as if I was listening to a fairy tale.
Knidos Ancient City: There is nothing like tracing the traces of a civilization by the sea. The road to Knidos is a bit winding, but the sea view fascinates at every bend. I thought while sitting in the ancient theater and watching the view: Who knows who laughed and who cried here... I almost never put down my camera.
Food & Flavors: I still can't forget the almond dessert I had in Ovabükü. One afternoon at Poyraz Restaurant, I sat at a delicious table prepared with freshly caught fish. Appetizers, olive oil dishes, salads with pomegranate sour... While chatting with someone at the next table, I learned that many products are bought from the villagers. This naturalness carries over to the food. At breakfast, you can already tell that the jams are homemade at the first bite.
Nature Walks: I walked a little away from the beach and took small paths through the hills. Bird sounds, the smell of pine and the unique landscapes that you come across every now and then... The walking routes are not very challenging but they open your heart. At one point, I sat on the rocks overlooking the sea and just listened to the silence without doing anything. I think I liked this part of Ovabükü the most: silence, simplicity and naturalness.
