Places to see in Gaziantep

There are many places to visit when you come to Gaziantep, one of the places where civilization was first established and the first settlement was established in Anatolia.

First of all, you should go to Zeugma Ancient City. This place was also included in the World Heritage list by UNESCO. The city has managed to carry the remains of the Roman, Byzantine and Hellenistic Periods to the present day. After the archaeological excavations, a villa thought to have belonged to a Roman rich man was found and mosaics depicting the wedding scene of Dionysus were uncovered on the floor of the guest room. Entrance fee and museum card is valid.

You can visit Dülük Ancient City. In the village, which is about 10 kilometers away from the center, tools thought to belong to people living in the 6th millennium BC were found in a cave in the ancient city located on the Historical Silk Road.

You can see the Karkamış Ruins in Karkamış district on the Syrian border. It is estimated that the region was a center during the Neolithic Period. The artifacts excavated from here are now on display at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara.

You can visit Gaziantep Castle, which is the symbol of the city. You can visit the zoo, Almacı Bazaar, Saklı Konak Copper Works Museum, Zeugma Mosaic Museum, Medusa Archaeological Glass Works Museum, Yesemek Open Air Museum, Gaziantep Game and Toy Museum, Gaziantep Heroism Panorama Museum, Bayazhan City Museum, Şahinbey War Museum, Emine Göğüş Kitchen Museum and Gaziantep Mevlevihanesi Foundation Museum. You can see the Gaziantep Archeology Museum (an interesting and rich collection of archaeological excavations in the region is exhibited in this museum) and Hasan Süzer Ethnography Museum. In the Bey neighborhood, you can visit the Atatürk memorial house.

You can visit historical mosques, inns, baths and madrasahs from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods. You can see historical churches such as Kendirli Church and Nizip Fevkani Church. You can walk around the streets of Gaziantep and take photos. You can tour Gaziantep Bazaar, shop and chat with shopkeepers.

Coppersmith bazaar, bedestens, inns and historical Gaziantep houses are other places you can explore. You can see the monumental tombs near Hisar Village.
