
Places to see in Kastamonu
Kastamonu, a city with a history that dates back to ancient times, is home to many artifacts and historical remains that have survived through the ages. As you enter the city, the Kastamonu Castle, dating back to the 12th century from the Byzantines, greets you. The castle was restored in 2005, and from there, you can observe the entire city.
You can visit the Zımbıllı Tepe Mound (Pompeipolis). This ancient city, located near the center of Taşköprü district, was established by the Romans in 64 BC as the capital of the Paphlagonia province. Many artifacts and mosaics have been uncovered through archaeological excavations.
