
Places to see in Safranbolu
In Safranbolu, everywhere feels like a museum, and there is no shortage of places to visit and sights to see. You will truly be mesmerized, and your list of things to do will be quite extensive for your vacation.
You can visit Hıdırlık Hill, which is surrounded by castle walls and houses a tomb. The entrance is ticketed. From the top, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the town as it catches the morning light, offering a picturesque scene. From here, you can see Cinci Han, historical mosques, and the unique houses side by side, creating an architectural texture that is truly one-of-a-kind.
Another opportunity for a beautiful view is from the Safranbolu Clock Tower, located on a hill. After climbing the cobbled streets, you can enjoy a different perspective of the town, this time viewing the other side of the historical town.
In addition to the historical buildings and houses, Safranbolu is home to several fascinating natural attractions, such as İncekaya Aqueduct and Canyon, the charming Yörük Village with its magnificent houses, Bulak and Hızar Caves, Hacılarobası and Üçbölük Villages with their rock tombs, Düzce Canyon, Sarıçiçek Plateau, Uluyayla, and Gürleyik Picnic Area. These are some of the other must-see locations in the area.
If your trip allows, you can visit Yörük Village, which is 13 km from Safranbolu. This open-air museum is accessible by taxi. The well-maintained houses and streets under protection are a sight to behold. You can visit the Kaymakçıoğlu Mansion, Sipahiler Mansion, the Wooden Mosque, and the laundry house that has been restored and turned into an art gallery.
You can also explore İncekaya and Dana Village, and visit Eflani Canyon. Safranbolu offers Museum Houses that have been created by the Ministry of Culture, the District Governorship, and private enterprises. Among the oldest is the Kaymakamlar Museum House, which has been organized by the Ministry of Culture, and Kileciler Mansion, which has been restored and organized by the Safranbolu District Governorship. Both showcase old Safranbolu homes and lifestyles. You can also visit other private houses such as Mümtazlar Mansion and Karaüzümler Mansion. The Ahmet Demirezen Shoemaking Museum at Yemeniciler Arastası offers beautiful examples of the nearly lost craft of shoemaking.
