Places to see in South Eastern Anatolia
When the South Eastern Anatolia Region is evaluated in terms of places to visit and touristic aspects, it stands out more as cultural tourism. Because the biggest reason for this is that the region is one of the oldest settlements in human history. Since the South Eastern Anatolia Region includes Mesopotamia, it is very closely related to this region and is also the continuation of Anatolia. So it is a place in the middle of these two regions. Since it has been home to many civilizations as ancient civilizations, Christian culture, Seljuks, Ottomans and many other civilizations, there are deep traces in terms of historical and architectural works in the region. Of course, it is too big and rich to be completed in a short period of time, but if we need to count the important places, when you come to this region, we strongly recommend you to visit the Malabadi Bridge and Diyarbakır Walls in Diyarbakır, that is, the city walls and historical cultural heritage. When you visit Şanlıurfa, Balıklı Lake is already one of the most spectacular places not only in the region but also in our country. When you come to Adıyaman, we recommend that you do not return without seeing Mount Nemrut and the National Park. Mardin Castle and Mardin Houses and a magnificent natural terrace from which Mesopotamia can be seen await you. In Gaziantep, which is a little to the west of the region, Hızır Plateau and Gaziantep city center will welcome you beautifully and Zeugma Ancient City and Museum, also known as the Drowned City in Gaziantep, is one of the important places worth seeing. If you are on your way to Batman, Hasankeyf Castle awaits you with all its majesty, and Dara Ruins in Mardin is one of the important historical places. In Batman, you can also see the oil production facilities in Raman, the oldest oil production sites in our country. The Hidden Paradise known as Halfeti is also located in Şanlıurfa. The Ten Eyed Bridge can be visited from Diyarbakır. According to some rumors, Veysel Karani Tomb is known to be in several places in Anatolia and the Caucasus, and there is also a tomb in Siirt.
